Treating Myself on Valentine's Day to Old Good Friends

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

For this was sent on Seynt Valentyne's day
Whan every foul cometh ther to choose his mate.
And, cousin mine, upon Monday is Saint Valentine's Day and every bird chooses himself a mate, and if it like you to come on Thursday night, and make provision that you may abide till then, I trust to God that ye shall speak to my husband and I shall pray that we may bring the matter to a conclusion.

(Regading the origin of St. Valentine's Day. Shortly after the young lady herself wrote a letter to the same man addressing it "Unto my rightwell beloved Valentine, John Paston Esquire". The custom of choosing and sending valentines has of late years fallen into comparative desuetude.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY TO YOU AND YOURS AND ME AND MINE!!!!!!!

Ed walked over this morning at 5:45a.m.--he grabbed a soda from my fridge, checked out the bookcase in my living room that he agreed to put together for me this week. He said he came over just to find out what he needed for the project. I had the feeling there was something else, but a hug and peck later and he was gone. A long conversation on his way south did not reveal any other motive or plan, so I don't know what else it might have been that he wanted. I had an idea, but I did not bring up my own idea.

My treat to myself after that (and God really answered my prayer for this) was to spend time with a lot of my girlfriends, who are sweethearts. I looked up two old friends from college, actually located them, and had some quality time with them on the phone today. The cool thing is they know each other, too.

Then off to church where I got two invitations to lunch, one for today, and one for tomorrow, both with dear girlfriends. I had arranged another lunch with a high school girlfriend for Tuesday, so I look forward to that.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY TO YOU AND YOURS AND ME AND MINE!!!!!!!
