Setting You Up

Before Pastor Jim began his sermon this mornimg, he warned us that he was setting us up. Not liking surprises himself or times when he feels put on the spot, he was just being thoughtful. Then here comes the wind-up, then, the pitch, to mix sports metaphors, as you will see, and he says leadingly, "Are you ready for some_____ ?(fill in the blank)? Some of the congregation plays along with a half-hearted answer of "football", knowing this had to be the wrong answer, but also realizing that today is the beginning of the pro football season. Jim says, "...Romans!"

Romans is the grand First Epistle of the Bible and the content discusses such issues as faith, righteousness, justification, how to tell the counterfeit from the genuine spiritually, as well as spiritual gifts, and how to interract with fellow believers in times of disagreement. We must keep our hearts in unity against all unrighteousness in the most loving, yet tenacious manner, preotecting each other by renewing our minds and sharing our faith. [Think about it this way: Christ set us up (in a good way), where we do not have to fall down never able to get up again, in a spiritual sense. He is our righteousness, and we look to Him for whom we are, and for whom we desire to be, in response to His love.]

Since no one but Christ Himself has been able to keep spiritual tenets perfectly, our example continues to be His life, not leaving us off the hook, but spurring us on in living out the laws of love and faith, in which we would not go against the Ten Commandments. Realizing His love and all-covering forgiveness allows us to continue doing good things, thus giving all glory to God, the Father, who is worthy of all praise.

Keep on walkin', son,
You'll get there soon enough.

The 9-12 Project

QUOTE OF THE DAY: "A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor and bread it has earned -- this is the sum of good government." - THOMAS JEFFERSON

Today people are marching on Washington, D.C. in something called the 9-12 Project. 9 Principles-12 Values. It is a determined crowd desiring to bring back Judeo-Christian values in America. Like we lost them.

Oh, we DID lose them.!!! Make no mistake!!!!!

I do not believe that any of us would disagree times are tougher than they used to be and that raising a decent family is difficult, at best. Without the help of spiritual principles, we remain forever in the dark, an unpleasant place for anyone with this particular fear. Critical to realize is that there are principles, one being faith, which holds the hope of better things to come, both now and in the future.

THE FACTS ARE THAT, INDEED, SOME PEOPLE HAVE LOST GOOD PRINCIPLES BY WHICH TO LIVE. THIS IS THEIR MISFORTUNE. OUR CHILDREN ARE EXPOSED TO MORE DANGER THAN EVER BEFORE IN HISTORY, THE MEDIA MAKES SURE WE KNOW ALL ABOUT THAT, AND IF ONE IS NOT CAREFUL IT IS EASY TO GIVE UP BY FALLING INTO DESPAIR. THOSE OF US WHO CARE FOR OTHERS DO OUR BEST TO RESTORE THESE PEOPLE AND THEIR LOST FAITH AND HOPE IN THEMSELVES, SYSTEMS, AND SOCIETY, BY OUR EXEMPLIFYING A BETTER EXAMPLE, IF WE CAN, AND LENDING A HAND, BEING COMPASSIONATE, AS WELL AS OFFERING OUR RESOURCES.

Join in to provide a better tomorrow, clicheish as that sounds, and set your mind on helping someone out, EVEN in the smallest way. Think about someone now and figure out if there is something that can be done to make his life easier.

(Even an emotional cleansing by shedding tears for all the injustices in the world can be a good thing. Bring all these things to our Father in prayer . He does see all and feels for us.)

No one has everything and every one has nothing without each other in Christ.

Peace to You,
Kiva
